Genesis Scottish Open
July 7 @ 12:00 am
The Scottish Open is a professional golf tournament and part of the DP World Tour. It is part of the DP World Tour’s Rolex Series, meaning it offers a higher prize fund and attracts more of the game’s top players as a result. In 2022 it will be jointly sanctioned by the PGA Tour for the first time, increasing its profile even further.
It was established in 1972, and after being cancelled 2 years later when TV coverage of the tournament could not be arranged, it was revived in 1986 and has been held annually since. The event is typically held in July a week before The Open Championship, giving players one last chance to qualify and warm up for that major.
In 2021, Min Woo Lee of Australia beat Matt Fitzpatrick and Thomas Detry in a dramatic playoff to win the competition, his 2nd European Tour victory.
