Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs

On Saturday, May 4th 2024, the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby will take place at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. The gates will open at 8am and the first race will start at 10:30am. The Kentucky Derby is a Grade I stakes race for three-year-old Thoroughbreds and is known as “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports”. This exciting event attracts horse racing enthusiasts from all over the world to witness one of the most prestigious races in horse racing history. Throughout the day, there will be a variety of exciting races including the Fillies’ Turf Sprint, Dirt Mile, Juvenile Turf Sprint and Juvenile Fillies’ Turf Sprint. The main event will start at 6:50pm and last two minutes as 20 horses compete for a purse of $3 million dollars. As always, there will be plenty of fun activities to enjoy throughout the day such as live music performances, food vendors, and a parade with fancy hats and colorful costumes!
